Hello all Merlyn Martin here from the Subdivisions Global Podcast / Hazardous Radio in Los Angeles. I am proud to present to you The San Diego Sessions Vol. 2 - Red (side b) 1996. This Volume is a digital conversion of my mix tape from 1996 called DJ Merlyn "Red". The enclosed recording is side B of the second promotional tape from a 3 part series of Progressive House/Acid Trance tapes called Blue, Red, and White.

These mixes are important to me due to the fact that they tell several stories. I feel the mixes and accompanied art work show how a DJ can be artists with varying musical styles. These mixes represent where I personally was at musically in 1996, and where the underground music scene in San Diego and Los Angeles was at. The musical circuits have been buzzing with tricks and high-wire acts during the first workshop of the Red Bull Music Academy in Barcelona. Over the last decade the Academy has hosted incredible collaborations between legendary music makers and up and coming producers in metropolises like Melbourne, New York, Sao Paulo and Cape Town. The compilation is titled "Little Nobody presents SLAM-DUNK NINJA: The Perspicacious Remix Selection" (rather long-winded, we know!!), and there are 18 tracks in all, veering from electro to crack house, on into glitch/techno and IDM, and departures toward hip hop.

It's a remix selection of past and present tracks originally hacked together by myself, except (18) composed by Devin Wine, and "Cocaine Speaking" originally composed by me, Jeff Willis, and Francois Tetaz.

The charmingly horizontal Steve 'Afterlife' Miller has delivered a fine 17 track opus. Cathy Battistessa opens proceedings with the title track and fuses her balmy vocals into its minimal electronica. Afterlife favorite Rachael Calladine lends a lenitive chant to 'Clear Blue Sky', and then it's over to the dubby baggy-bubblings of 'Like Prana', a track born of Steve's Reggae/Northern roots.

Progressive Grooves Records is celebrating two years of prime progressive music with the release of a powerful and thorough compilation.

The cream of the crop has been chosen and impressively featured in an outstanding hour long mix by label owner and lead producer Mikas. The work titled 2 Years of Progressive Grooves will also include all of the original singles included in the mix. The project promises to be a well rounded double-disc epitomizing two years of critically acclaimed material for the young, but fruitful label. The artists and team will promise to deliver some of the most distinguished music the progressive genre has to offer.

Recently the label released a spring compilation for Winter Music Conference in Miami with the title "Progressive Grooves Vol. I - Miami 2008. The compilation went on to top the charts in The United Kingdom and Australia, while most notably receiving a Top 10 spot for iTunes E.D.M. Genre.
