This is DJ Hi-Shock's debut release on the Hypnotic Room label. Usually he is known to produce hard and minimal techno but this time around Hi-Shock experiments with a more club oriented sound and delivers three excellent takes of the dancefloor friendly "Discotheque".

There is a bit of everything here from bouncy techno, a bit of breaks, electro, hard house, funky tech-house and even some classic trance thrown in.

The sound is big and the promo release has been receiving terrific dancefloor response from clubbers. Enjoy and play it out loud!

If an Australian electronic underground, in its purest sense, still exists at all, it certainly doesn’t have many producers left. So an album release from an artist with the profile and credentials of Deepchild is something to take notice of in this context. It’s difficult to discuss his work with complete objectivity - anyone who has been anywhere near electronic music in Australia over the last decade has likely come across Rick Bull in one of his many guises. As radio DJ supporting all-Australian electronica on Electroplastique on 2SER around the turn of the century, to his shift across to Fbi Radio, from his long association with Clan Analogue to his presence at every reputable nightclub as either a live performer or DJ, he’s been hard to miss and easy to admire. Departure, the title, to my ears, is not a reference to Deepchild’s actual sound. Musically, this is clearly an outgrowth of previous work, though there is undoubtedly a progression. Well, no big deal to anyone else but us right here but we added our 1000th ‘fan’ on our MySpace page today which is quite astonishing when you consider its been completely word of mouth, we havn’t DJ’ed or done a gig in over six years and there still proves to be a groundswell of support that we never really plugged into until the MySpace phenomenon took off....

Apologies for the criminally long gap between posts but nothing pressing to report, alternative temptations etc etc ! Anyway there are another couple of new(ish) mixes of ‘Hooked’ floating around of late, one from 7th Heaven and one from Nik Denton....

Was cleaning up my MySpace profile last week and wandered off on a tangent somewhere and stumbled across Tommy Bedlams (aka Ry Thomas) profile. For once I didn’t reach for the mute button when the inevitable music sprang into action....

We were toying with the idea of sticking out ‘I’ll Be There’ on vinyl in the USA a while ago, but such has been the swift demise of the already ultra niche vinyl market over here that it just didn’t seem worth it....

G'day all, my housemate is piking on me and because of his lameness I need to sell two tickets to Universe 2007 at Kryal this weekend.
