What We Do: i'm a dancer/vocalist - i create my own shows, sometimes with live music collaborators, sometimes to a specially-created soundtrack on CD. i also work with video artists to create music video clips, live/multimedia collaborative performances, and (occasionally) recordings of my live shows. sometimes (for the ultra-short shows) i perform to another artist's music - for example, 'grace and winning style' is a six minute show to a Propellerheads track, against which i sing, slam, dance, interact with the crowd, and change costume (yeah, all in six minutes). my work ranges from the shamelessly populist to the weirdly arty, depending on the context; in 'the birth of Jezebel' i emerge naked from a small cocoon and work through a number of identities as i gain clothes, ending up in a full girly-drag extravaganza of a character. most of my work deals, to greater or lesser depth, with female sexuality, identity and gender-fuck issues. i like to think it's sexy, funny, exhilarating, and thought-provoking stuff. Preferred Vibe: because of the nature of what i do i have specific requirements with regard to space and floor surface. other than that, my shows are created to be flexible as far as the broader context goes, from short, snappy numbers designed as floor shows for a club setting, to one-hour productions more in keeping with either a festival or a cabaret situation (though it's generally a bit loud to be real cabaret!). i'm also equally happy at small, intimate, arty nights or huge, crazy, outdoor celebrations. Favourite Events: festivals, weekenders, dance parties of any persuasion where a live performance is welcome. Favourite Moments: when you have a rapt and rowdy crowd eating out of your hand it's better than sex... The Future: i'm looking for collaborators (DJ, VJ) with whom to form a kind of concept band for festivals and clubs that host live performances, heading into recording/video/multimedia projects asap.
