Ashley Ashley Feraude is an accomplished producer/DJ and has musical qualifications, which he attained by being professionally trained in music during his earlier years in Europe. Following his arrival to Australia in the late 80s, Ashley set up a home studio and began composing and recording original pieces for his personal projects as well as corporate video soundtracks and radio advertisements. At the time, his productions were strongly influenced by a spectrum of sounds ranging from cinematic classical music and bossa nova through to synth pop bands. During the late 90s, Ashley entered the DJing profession as a direct result of his ever-growing appreciation of the evolving electronic music scene and, within a few years, he secured spots at many club parties and events. As time went on, his choice of dance music began focusing predominantly on house and he built a strong reputation for having a very soulful sound that was mixed seamlessly, which earned him the critic’s title of a true gentleman DJ. During his current sets, Ashley shares his passion for the various sounds of house, disco, funk, soul and down tempo grooves … all skilfully layered with his trademark soulful touch. He currently holds many residencies and has regular spots in Canberra’s premier lounges and nightclubs including Academy Nightclub, Hippo, Trinity, B Bar, Knightsbridge Penthouse, Binara One Bar, Lot 33 and the Transit Bar as well as Chinese Laundry in Sydney. Over the last few years Ashley has proven his worth as a main stage performer by supported many international acts such as Deep Dish (US), Danny Howells (UK), Nick Warren (UK), Fedde Le Grand (Hol), Switch (UK), Anthony Pappa (UK), Miguel Migs (US), Kaskade (US), Jay J (US), LTJ Bukem (UK) and the Hed Kandi tour. He has also supported local acts including Sneaky Sound System, Midnight Juggernauts, Muscles, Mark Dynamix, Kid Kenobi, Jon Course, The Aston Shuffle, Andy Van, Mr Timothy, Dirty South, and has played for the Ministry of Sound Annual, Mashed and Housexy tours. All this activity, including his performances at the Foreshore Summer Music Festival and the Warehouse Winter Music Festival, (Canberras biggest outdoor music events), has lead to Ashley being voted as the top 3rd ACT DJ in the InTheMix Top 50 poll of 2008. Ashleys involvement in dance music extends beyond DJing as he is also a contributor to the Australian Recording Industry’s Association Club Chart and a producer of a top selling compilation CD of original Canberra artists titled Schmooze Deluxe. He is also a sole trader of Sound Technique, a marketing consultancy, graphic and sound design business which boasts clients such Friction Event Management, Academy Nightclub, Hippo, Lexington Music, Trinity, Knightsbridge Penthouse, Lot 33, Ginger Catering, Schmooze, Cataldos Hair Salon, Red Hot Recruitment, Australian International Education Academy, Canberra Arts Marketing, Canberra Jazz Festival, LiveIn Real Estate, Dreamfarm, Sandy Spiers Photography, Research One, Francos of Canberra, Redpaths and Caffe Della Piazza in Canberra as well as Jam Music (Chinese Laundry, Slipp Inn and Tank – Merival Group) in Sydney. Recently, Ashley has also been spending more time in the studio producing mixed compilations, corporate advertising, CD-Rom and website soundtracks for his clients and also working on the recording of his musical projects, some of which have been composed over 15 years ago. His songs exemplify his preference for combining melodic, vocal and jazz influenced pop sounds with electronic elements and have been received very well in reviews and when played during his sets or live events. In particular, his track Something New has been used for a TV commercial for Lot 33 nightclub, was featured on a Melbourne Magazine compilation and made it as a top 8 finalist of the 2006 Nokia Be Heard national competition. Wasting Time has been placed on the BMA Magazine compilation CD and the remaining tracks have been used as a theme by Channel Nine’s Snow Show, included in the Schmooze Deluxe compilation CD, played on FBI radio, featured on the Hippo Lounge Bar website and placed into numerous mixed DJ compilations. He has also been interviewed on JJJ and many of his mixed compilations have also been featured on JJJs The Club show.
