SYSTEM FAILURE |
BE PREPARED! You should keep equipment backups (as well as other essential items) on hand, ready to go should you have a problem. You should also carry a toolbox that has screw and nut drivers, pliers, cutters, jumper wires, plenty of audio adapters, fuses and light bulbs. For the average system you should have at least one backup cable for every type of cable in your system. The most common system failures can be traced to bad cables. You plug them in and out, you step on them and run over them with your hand truck. Do yourself a big favor and carry backup cables. If you use a wireless mic, keep a wired mic handy as a spare. I find that a Sony Discman can be your best friend when a CD player fails. Toss one in Read More |

Dj Customer Service |
Customer ServiceThere's a bit of psychology involved when it comes to making customers happy. I had a fascinating phone call last week from a friend who's moving her office. Getting her telephone system up and running in the new location has become somewhat of a mind-boggling experience. As I listened to her account of the experience, I couldn't help but think back on Lily Tomlin's "Ernestine the telephone operator" character on Laugh-in. Remember that classic phrase, "We don't have to be nice, we're the phone company"?Getting telephone service in this modern, computerized day and age should be as simple as making a phone call. Yet it seems the more technologically advanced we become, the more we slide backward Read More |

Remember, Don't Get Burnt!! |
(This page is a Quick slap together of some copyright news as I do NOT have the time to do something that is outstanding YET) Remember, Don't Get Burnt!!Penalties for infringement of copyright are getting tougher, and every venue or mobile / club DJ with a hard drive system that is playing copied music should be very, very nervous.....It seems people still don't understand that, unless you hold an AMCOS licence and must have written permission from every record company or ARIA for each individual song / recording, it is against the law to copy music onto a hard drive! The Australian Record Industry Association (ARIA) has set up Music Industry Piracy Investigations (MIPI) as a policing body to target music copyr Read More |

Re: top 40 crapola |
Pete I think what the general rule is....
if you work as a Dj and play music (CD's not computers) and get CAUGHT without a licence making money from the record companies then dont say you wasnt informed in the first place
if you want to know about Dj licences then best to get one at www.ppca.com.au and this way you can use CD's at work - it does NOT cover mp3's as its illegal to use a computer in Australia

Dont bother with Agencys
all they want is $$$$ before they find you work
want to really know is go out there and beat the footpath and ask with the clubs for a Trial test on your talents...
then have a resume done up with what you learn and know
also see who is offering dj schools (But be carefull some are also after $$$)
last thing is if your under 18 then wait till you are of legal age to go into nightclubs
plus also see the copyright laws like at www.ppca.com.au
get caught doing things ille Read More |
