| Australias leading arts, new media and music festival, THIS
IS NOT ART (TINA) happens every year in Newcastle and a big
part of TINA is SOUND SUMMIT, dedicated to independent
electronic and hip hop music. SOUND SUMMIT will be held
from October 3-5 at Club Nova, The Workers Club, Featuring
11 sessions, with over 30 Australian and International
speakers. These panels and workshops will give insight into
all facets of independent music in Australia. One of the
highlights is the Demo Feedback Panel on Saturday Oct 4
from 5-7pm where a panel of music industry figures will
give their thoughts on anonymously submitted demos (drop
you demo, including contact details, into the boxes
provided at each session). Other panels topics include
Setting Up a Record Label or becoming a Self-Releasing
Artist, Making Beats and Using Samples Production Workshop,
Turntable Technologies, Making Music Videos on a Budget and
Getting them Screened, Understanding and Using Music
Royalties, Budgeting for a Record Release, Live Performance
for Electronic Artists and Hip Hop Producers, and, Audio
Processing, Software Composition & Laptop Production.
There is no pre-registration and each panel is a mere $5
with limited capacity, so rock up early to ensure entry.
