Since its formation in 2001, Novalima has been breaking down boundaries, uniting seemingly irreconcilable genres, communities and generations to create an inspiring movement that has revolutionized the music scene in their native Peru. Founded by four friends from Lima with a shared passion for both traditional Afro-Peruvian music and modern DJ culture, Novalima searches for the common ground between past and future, between tradition and innovation.
On July 23rd, after their Chicago debut in Millennium Park, the members of Novalima will dig through the crates of their vast collection of underground Afro-Latin, Dub and House for the delight of electronic and world music fans alike. Their DJ set will include the music that has inspired them over the years and has served as the foundation for the Novalima sound.
Don’t miss this rare opportunity to meet the members of the band in an intimate setting. The lineup of the evening will include Chicago native DJ Chávez spinning a Latin electronic fusion drawing on both traditional sources as well as dance floor remixes.
