The Bank Hotel is very pleased to announce ‘Break The Bank” DJ Competition – a new and exciting event being held at the Bank Hotel in Newtown, starting on 16th October 2008.
The event will be one of Sydney’s largest DJ Competitions with a total prize pool of over $7000 thanks to our proud sponsors Tooheys, Inthemix, SameSame, The Groovy Academy, AV sound, Stanton, FagTag & Music Hub. For the grand final winner this will include a 12 month contract with DJ Company “The Groove Academy” as well as DJ residency at The Bank Hotel. The target is for aspiring and amateur DJs who are ready to take a shot at moving into the professional DJ industry.
The Bank Hotel is looking for great ‘up and coming talent ‘and entry is open to all over 18 years (see terms and conditions & application form on the Bank Hotel & Inthemix website for more details). Entry to the competition is via a 30 minute DJ mixed CD. CDs will be reviewed and successful applicants will move through into the heats.
The competition in conjunction with well respected online music company ‘Inthemix’ will consist of 6 heats over 6 weeks, followed by 2 semi finals and a grand final taking place on 11th December 2008. A judging panel including local resident DJ’s will oversee the competition looking at mixing ability, choice of tracks, crowd response and stage presence.
Through this competition we’re looking to give a talented DJ a chance to kick start a real career in the industry. The Owner of the Bank Hotel Jason Ryan says “The reason I’m so excited about this competition is the showcasing and ability to raise young talent through our venue, where music is such a major component and drawcard to our Hotel”
