DJ CHEEKYPROFILE

Age in dog years?
7 years old

First session behind the decks?
At the usual place, a friends house! After one mix, I thought to myself Hey this is fun!

What were you doing before you started DJing?
I'd moved from Queensland and was trying to get started in the Graphic Design industry. Soon after being in NSW for a while I started to run a weekly Sunday recovery Sun-Daze, showing Sydney's up and coming DJs. I suppose I had to get the bug sooner of later!

Where would you like to ultimately see yourself playing?
In front of a large crowd who are there to appreciate the style of music I play and hoping they're enjoying it as much as I am

What makes you stand out from the rest?
I'd have to say being a female is a strong point and because I'm cheeky!

Preferred musical styles when DJing?
Anything from progressive house to the really hard house, it all depends on where I'm playing and at what time. If the crowd is dancing I'll keep playing what I'm playing

AWhat do you listen to at home?
My records, what else? And a few CDs just for taste

Favourite record labels?
Stress, Prolekult, Perfecto, Cheeky, Ouch and Hooj Choons to name a few

Favourite gig/s you've played at?Ê
Mortuary Station Recovery earlier this year, playing to a full platform! Also playing at Corruption at a superb venue The Metro, not to be forgotten. But the most memorable would have to be at the opening of Essence at the Banta Room

Where do you think the Sydeny dance scene is heading?
I think it's going in the right direction at the moment, the parties seem to be pushed into the clubs which is what everyone wants. seeing as there are not many rave parties happening and that the music is looking more to the house-side of things. It's good to see more and more promoters are putting all there effort into giving the people what they want. I hope it keeps going the way it is.

Advice to DJ wanna-be's?
Love the MUSIC!!!

Who is your dream DJ bimbo?
Mrs Wood.......Does that count?

Any incidents that almost convinced you DJing was not for you?
When you're only half way up a flight of stairs with your record box and there's still heaps of stairs to go............ those of you who have played at the Rooftop surely must understand!!

What do you hope to be doing in five years?
Working in the computer graphics industry and maybe playing at a few more larger-scale parties any where in the world. As long as I'm doing the best at what I do in life!!
