Hey there, I'm a "babygoff" here, and I need some interesting things to do with my hair.
It's almost shoulder-length, gold-brown colour. I can't dye it and I'd rather not cut it.
Any suggestions?

Are you allowed ot cut your hair? How about a very graphic hairstyle with diagonal lines?
check www.hairdos.com and see if they have a short, or medium style that fits or just use
hairstyles as a search word and I'm sure that you'll find lots of styles that together
with certain types of clothing will look very gothic, whatever that is to you.

I would suggest moving to a bigger city. There are tons of Goth, Industrial, Etc.
kids/people out there. You just have to find them. Try going to 18 plus clubs,
cemetaries, all ages shows. If you're from L.A. look in the LA Weekly (most cities have
something simular to this) and look for bands that strike your interest. There's gotta be
something you can find that will distract you from how crappy the preppy jocks are.
Cheers and good luck! --^..^--

hey, i'm a trainee hairstylist, if you can get a hair straitener you will be able to pull
you hair forward a little on each side, which would give it a feathered look which go's
really well with the goth look...
also try using liquid eyeliner to make a stem effect from your hair, this will look nice
as if your eyes bloomed out of a black flower stem that grew from your natural gothic
hair... ;)
if anyone wants anymore tips.

Yea I got an idea....put your hair up in those cutesy little britney spears ponytails, go
to her concert, and stay there where your wannabe azz belongs, -k-? you'll make the rest
of us MUCHHHHHH happier, without yet another babybat....shizzzz how about IDIOT 12 YEAR
OLD trying to imitate, and give us a bad name. Oh and for the record, if you have to do
your hair some other way, you should shear it all off except for a lil tuft in the front,
and dye it blood red. o.0

What a Bitch. And how did you get into being goth? Most likely you saw somebody and liked
the look. I dislike posers like anyone else but everyone has the right to express
themselves. Most goths today are all cookie cutter trends anyway. Think about it. Most
of you buy your clothes at hot topic or somewhere the mall... or you think it's so cool
to go thrift shopping when a year ago the mere thought of buying used clothing or going
to good will made you tremble ! Hot topic is over priced corporate manufactured
clohing. I actually think the goth look is very elegant and beautiful when it is done
right. Most of you look like clowns walking around! Trying to act like you are the
people who created the look. So... What right do you have to bitch someoe out who just
wants some hair ideas? And I would just LOVE to know what kind of music you listen to!
LOL Maybe try some Cocteau Twins or maybe a little Mozart. Hop off the bandwagon yourelf
before you go around bitching people out. You are just as much a trend as anyone. Get
oer yourself. XOXO Maqualie'

omg, ur suck a #### hipacrite. so wut if someone becomes goth just because they like the
look. and no, mozart is NOT gothic music, its gay music. slip knot and deadsy and marilyn
manson all #### rock. if u cant handle the goth scene for what it is, then u shouldnt be
goth. and hot topic is awesome, yea, ok theyre a tad expensive, but its good quality
clothing. and its worth it u ********. so wut if we buy our clothes there, atlest we got
the $$ to buy them there. so, if your gonna rag on your own ppl, u might as well not be
goth.

I think that a real goth is someone who doesnt try to be something they arent. It should
come naturaly.
So what if you shop at hottopic, i dont see the problem with that, just as long as you
dont shop there to seem like a punk or a goth. Because being that doenst come from what
type of clothes you wear.
Gothism is about being crative, and your own style.
Dont copy someone's look, make your own!

(if anyone agrees with my opinion email me )

All of you suck...people should'nt become goth because they like the look...it takes away
from the true
meaning.being goth is not about the music you listen to,or where you shop...its who you
are inside...your
mind...i like the dark side of being goth...what happened to the way it used to be...when
a goth walked
down the street, they scared people...folks went out of there way to avoid them...when did
being goth
become a trend...theres way to many posers anymore.I think people are born being
goth...they dont just wake up one mourning and want to be one.most people who dress goth
are upbeat and goffy...what happened to living on the dark side of things.

You know nothing. Why don't you stop talking before you make yourself look worse. There is
NOTHING that says mozart cannot be gothic. Where's the rule book you consult? you're just
as much a poser as the little kindergarteners dressed as vampires at halloween. Anything
can be gothic. You wanna know why? Because it's all about self expression. There is
nothing that says anything classical isn't gothic. The gothic look was taken from the
medeival times. What do you think their main music was? You guessed it. Classical. Put
your foot in your mouth and hope I don't ever meet you in a dark ally. Stop pretending
like you know everything. You're probably 12.

little. So you do the math. If u r skinned it may take 4 to 6 months, depending.

Anywhere from 4 to 6 months. i hate to break it to you but your hair on average only
grows about 1/4 to 1/2 inch if you're lucky a month. i've been growing out my bangs for a
good 3 months and they've only grown out like 2 inches.

hey! its actualy rther easy to work with shoulder length hair. seeing u cant dye it, nor
would u like to cut it, i have a suggestion for you. one of my old favotires was to pull
the top half of my hair, the line right above my ears, and put that into 2 pony tails up
high. then i would braid them and put the braids int buns. secure them with a clip. using
a clip instead of another hairband often works better reducing the risk of it being messed
up or not coming out how it looks previously to securing the bun. or, another goth
favorite of mine is to shave the bottom half of your hair off and pull the top half back
and put it into a messy bun. have fun with your hair. dont care if it seems messy, cause
i know for a fact that someone else will e totaly jealous of your hair style and try to
do it, unsuccessfuly of course, but they will try it. trust me. have fun with styling
your hair, take an entire day out of a week and just mess around with your hair products.
style it differently with spray, or pomade, or hair glue. have fun!

hmmmmm just how baby ru then?
well if you cant dye it what about extensions they raent too expensive but dont have a
whole head of them that would look silly and over the top. or when you are going out try
hairmascarain any mad colour you can find. try the following hairstyles. . .
1.its high pigtales on the sides of your head but leave some hair down.
2.just put high pigtales in.
3. backcomb your hair and put hairspray in to stiffen it and make it look massive it will
also give you the "just risen from the Grave" look which is a winner.
4. buy some crimpers to crimp your hair.
thts all i can suggest really hope i have helped and just do a goth thing and just keep
growing your hair.

Hey kiddies!! Been doing hair for 15 years, ben goth since I was 15, and now have a 13
yaer old. Her school is anal about hair but the fatal mis-wording was their undoing, my
experiment and my kids passion, maybe yours too. Section your hair into 1-2 inch squares
and fasten with (black of course) rubber bands. About 2.00 bucks for 500 at a local
ethnic shop. Same shop should sell fake hair in any color you want! Red, burgandy,
lime, bubblegum, etc. They will also have a tool that looks like a latch-hook, both of
these items run about a buck a piece. Put the hook through the base of your hair, pull
half the hair through so you have an even amount on both sides of your braid, then rat it
up as evenly as you can, then twist, hit it with a blast from your trusty blow dryer, and
presto! Temporary dreads, or try just braiding it. Hair is like life, my chicks,
TEMPORARY!! So enjoy it, grow to be your own person, and don' tthrow your stick unless
you are ready for someone to pick it up and beat you with it!
Baby goths need encouragement, we need someone to always question the big freaks, who
else will keep them in line.
Look at your school dress code, if it says that hair color or style must be "Natural or
permanent" you can honestly tell them that it is considered "permant" by the beauty
industry, because it can last up to 6 weeks. If the african-american girls can weave
their hair, so can you, it also works on a "braided track" (do some research) and is then
sewn into that track, you can get the fake hair and latchook it through the braid or braid
it, or sew it or just knot it! Try other things, things that don't belong in your hair,
plastic rex lace, tinsel, ribbin,... play!!!!! Type in synth hair and see what comes up
on your 'puter my dark angels and never be afraid to try something new, ignore those who
condem, you may rise higher then their own star, then give them a hand up, it'll iritate
the snot right out of there mucas membranes.

Dark fairie,
I have to agree with Maqualie' Novouea, you do sound pretty sad. Don't stereotype
"Goths" now, just as there are different personalities in people, there are different
goths with different personalities. She just happened to like Mozart, which is not weird
or gay. You dont HAVE to listen to a specific kind of music. I'm not going to diss your
music or your ideals, just be a little more open minded, or you will end up like our

Hey... my suggestion with hair is to do whatever YOU like with it. I think gothicism is
way too infringed by those trying too hard to look good to others. The basic
fundamentals of it express individuality, so do what YOU want, and YOU think looks good.

I believe that alot of you posting here are acting like morons, "using long words" it's
called english. Goth is considered not to be just a look either. Dressing for looks is
just what the preps do, so I'm guessing that you are fitting out to fit in. I am not
trying to attack anyone but, I'm getting tire of posers running around and acting like
they are vampires, the first goth, or an unintelligent moron. And to reply to the
original post, I like to occasionally spike my hair in long spikes (my hair is below the

if this is the way you guys act on a daily basis...it's a good thing i'm not goth. for
chrissakes, were any of you born goth? is anyone born punk or hardcore or preppy? no...we
all go through stupid ass stages in highschool, college, life, then we come to the places
we feel comfortable. if you feel good pretending to hate life and religion and like
wearing black and worshipping betty paige, cool. stop the terrirtorial bullshit and suck
it up...you're not individual and you sure as hell are not the originators of your trend.
by the way, i'm a metal fan, hardcore...you know marilyn manson, chimaira, kitty, soulfly,
slipknot. yeah, that's hardcore, "your worst nightmare! fucka!", not goth...there is
actually a whole genre of music called goth, and they aren't it. so maybe you're having
the identity crisis.
i listened to mainstream and progressive rock in high school, and i'd like someone to
tell me that i'm not a real hardcore fan because of it.

I'm gothic, and decided to answer your little hairstyle question. First of all, I have
pitch black hair, which i streak green purple and orange. I have a girl cousin with the
same hair color and length as yours. I usually streak it purple and green for her, or,
spike up the back of her ponytail. thats all I'm saying for now, and all the rest of the

Here's a helpful site if the person in question still needs, or would like a bit of help.
http://www.ragdolly.net
http://quinnster.co.uk/hair/

Best online for hair extentions...that i've seen.

I could read all of your little rants about "goth" this and "goth" that. I'd have to say
that in my experience, the more time that passes, the more and more popular this little
"goth" subculture becomes. Some of you (if you are desperately seeking the truth or are
pretty bored)need to do a little reserch on the history of this little "goth" society.
Yes, it originated from punk. Yes siouxie and bauhaus were one of the first. But i dont
know where the #### people come off saying that The Cure was goth. Sure as #### didnt
sound like goth to me. And i've never considered Robert Smith a lil gothy musician. Just
because he has his hair like a bum off the street and wears black clothing and
make-up....doesnt make him or his music "goth". I've been all around the online "goth"
communities, and if one lil girl/boi isnt raving about how "goth" or how much of a
"freak" they are, then someone else is cutting their throat about what they think the
true meaning of it all was. Well, i'm just one of those neutral, sitting and listening to
all the fighting and name calling, and tell me one thing....what does it prove? If i had a
pet peeve it would be any and all subjects pertaining to he who calls himself marilyn
manson (what a cheap name), and those subjects favoring him. He is a waste of the
American's dollar, and he is a waste of the American's time. And i know pleanty of people
who would agree with me. I am not "goth". I would never call myself that. Even though i am
intrigued by the lifestyle, and i do believe i live it...I, for one, have learned that
labeling myself is not a way to get noticed...and you know all those lil moron posers out
there, and even those who truely believe they have earned their title of "gothic" are just
doing it to say "Look at meeee...Look at meee" Because if they werent half of these little
"goth Babe of the Week" sites would have never come to exist....so in the end...just like
the dreaded preps and jocks...theyre all doing it to get noticed, and all doing it for
laughs. But what they dont know to this day is that the laughing is done by those
sitting, watching and waiting....The End! lol.

What does it matter what people dress like and if they're this and if they're that. I
dress the way i want, no matter how you dress there will always be someone who dresses
the same. People consider me gothic but i don't i am just myself and that is the only
person i worry about, who gives a #### about someone else.

who gives about how people dress, you know, i mean, people can do whatever the hell they
want and dress and act however the hell they want, you all call yourselves goth, and its
supposed to mean "being unique", but then why are you worrying about what other people
are doing, do what you want to do, just be yourself who gives a !@#$ about other people,
just do what you want and STOP complaining, you'll do alright in life

hate you,

bitch about stuff, when what they really should be doing is worrying about themselves and
be out, living a life, geez!!!

ok, well...i thought i would just let all of you know that i really have an issue with
goth ideas. for example, most of you always criticize everybody else because they dress
or act a different way than you do, well you know, get over yourselves! you know, just
like you guys like to be who you are, and be what you want to be and all that crap, other
people are who they are and even if they are faking it, like for friends or something,
they are "goths" that are like that, that really aren't they are just pretending to be
just to impresss someone else, and so just take all your mumbo jumbo shit and shove it up
your ass because no one wants to hear it, so while you're sitting on your butt passing
judgement people are out living their lives like who they want to be and they really
don't give a damn about what you think, so go complain to someone who cares!

                           hate you,

Can't we all just get along? Seriously, if anything a lot of goths start out as posers(no
offense). Posers aren't really a bad thing though. Think of them as beginners, help them,
teach them or if you still have a problem with them, just leave them be. Sadly, I have to
agree goth has become mainly just a trend, but almost anything these days are a trend if
you think about it. I personally never considered myself goth until everyone started
calling me goth and asking me if I was. Goth should not be a label it should be a
lifestyle. I'm not going to bash Hot Topic, though I personally don't like the store much
anymore. It's become a bit too mainstream and overpriced for my interests, though I do get
a band teeshirt or bracelet there every now and then. Now, onto the topic of music. What
exactly is 'goth music'? Just because you wear black you can't like a certain type of
music now? Being goth is about being yourself and not holding back or hideing who you
are. To hell with stereotypes, people should do what they want without others bitching at
them for it. It makes you no better then then 'preps' and the 'jocks' or the other
populars. Well, I hope this sheds some light on those who were blind, until return,
blessed be. ~ Acerbus

i agree with you on some bases of what yu are saying, but i find marilyn manson really
good, but i find that its annoying when people say they like it to apear goth, i just
like metal, but i dont say im goth cuz of that, some people are jappy, cuz thats the type
of person they are, and im goth cuz im just being myself, im not trying to impress
anyone, actually at my skool everyone is scared of me, i dont give a shit, what matters
most for me is being myself.
but once again, i agree on some on of the stuff yu are saying

i know what your saying about people bitching at you because your a "babygoth". i'm 14 and
i'm just getting in to the whole goth thing. i moved recently to a new town/school where
they have never really seen or heard the name goth. so to them i'm a real hardscore goth.
it's pretty funny, and i'm not easly amused.
now, i have 3 or 4 inch hair below the shoulder and i can cut and grow it however i fill
fit, but can only die it any "natural" color. i'm open for any ideas. (female/14)

please no bitching at me!!!!

Okay I'm graduating from highschool here in about a week and I am so lost. We don't get
to wear caps and gowns so I have to find something to wear quick. And now it's not
halloween time so I can't go out and buy the rennisaunce (yeah I can't spell :P) looking
clothes. So I've got what to wear to worry about and I can't buy anything online because
I don't have a credit card! Any way.. that's one thing I have to worry about and the other
is my hair! I need some ideas on how to do my hair. Possibly down because they do have
fake caps and gowns to wear so you can get graduation pictures. My hair is about waist
length and its black (of course) and straight. I've tried every thing to make my hair
look good, but it always seems to fail. I would even like some ideas on how to do it up.
Now I'm not into that whole "crazy" type of hair style with all the fake hair and big
hair-do. There's nothing wrong with it, but it's just not me :) So if you have any tips,
please share. Also, if you have any pictures I can look at for hair, it would come into
use as well.. I'm not good at doing hair just by explinations.. I need visuals too :P lol
, but if you don't have any pictures then you can explain any way. I've tried every gothic
hair web page that I could think of or that google found. I still can't find anything.
Please help me out :( Thank you!

On a side note... I like manson :) But I like Industrial and Goth Rock as well. skinny
puppy, front 242, hocico, funkervogt, icon of coil, depeche mode, ministry, etc.. :)
